1920 - a member of the first graduating class of new aviators Rank: Lieutenant.
August 19, 1920 - after 9 hours and 23 minutes of in-flight instruction (by V.Jakubovs), Kraulis completes his first solo flight.
His training and solo flight all took place in Albatros B.II 6161/17.
October, 1920 - as Sopwith Strutter 7046 becomes available, Kraulis expands his flight experience on the new machine.
March 10, 1921 - Member of the 2nd Squadron.
August 7, 1921 - participates in the Aviation Festival at Spilve.
June 30, 1921 - crashes in Sopwith Strutter #11 when, landing in a strong wind, the wingtip caught the ground and spun the aircraft.
January 27, 1922 - the first peacetime aviator to be designated/qualified as a combat pilot. Rank: 1st Lieutenant
March 22, 1922 - with observer Ltn. Deprejs, Kraulis flew Junkers CL-1 #10 on a reconnaissance of ships locked in the ice in
the Gulf of Riga. Their course took them near Mersrags when the engine failed and they were forced to land on the ice. They
and the aircraft were picked up by the German ship Hanover which was en route to help the German ships stuck in the ice.
They were eventually delivered to Ventspils, from where the aircraft was transported to Riga and deemed not to be worth repairing.
September 1, 1922 - died in the crash of Sopwith Strutter #11. Their engine failed while flying near Jelgava and the plane crashed
on the nearby highway. Kraulis died in the wreck, but his two passengers (1st.Lt. Bramsons and Capt.Kalnins) survived by leaping from
the aircraft just before it struck the ground.
