The SV.7 was a 1935 project. The Belgian air force deemed it to be an obsolete design and purchased Fairey Battles instead.
Beginning in December 1936 the Latvians began looking for a more modern trainer, suitable for preparing pilots for
the Gloster Gladiator while still being capable of being used for reconnaissance.
The Latvian Air Force was already flying a number of SV5s and, generally, were pleased with them. It was therefore
only to be expected that they would consider the SV7 when looking for a more advanced 2-seater. While the SV7 was
one of about six aircraft considered for the role, the decision was made on Feb.9, 1937 to purchase the Hawker Hind.
